Embrace the Mess

Parkers newest obsession is climbing on the chairs and then on to the table.  I try to always push the chairs away from the table, but he's not stupid, he just pushes them right back over to the table.   So for the umpteenth time today I found him on the table. This time he had dumped a baggy of Cheerios out and was having a great time pushing them around and finger painting with the dust.  So instead of getting annoyed again, I decided to embrace the mess.

How Did This Happen?

Today Parker climbed up in the rocking chair to relax for a few minutes.  It immediately made me think of a similar picture I had of him from last year.  It really is crazy to think how much a little body can change in just over a year. 

Parker is now finally walking more than just crawling everywhere.  He has just had a growth spurt the last few weeks. It seems like he is reaching thing I didn't think he could reach.  He's discovered that if he climbs in the bottom drawer in the kitchen he can reach things on the counter.  He used to unload the pots and pans mulitiple times a day, now its the silverware. Seems like I just can't keep up with him all day long from mess to mess. He is really giving us a run for our money these days, but we are sure glad to have him.  He is just the sweetest kid I think we ever could have had.

Parker's 1st Birthday

So it happened, Parker turned One.  I guess he's not my little baby anymore.

He had two special days to celebrate his birthday.  Over Labor Day weekend we went to Wellsville and were able to celebrate with my side of the family.  We had dinner and then watched him open presents.  He got lots of new toys and clothes.  Thanks to everyone who came.  Then we watched him smash his cupcake.  The first one he wasn't really sure what to do with and just smashed it and didn't eat much of it.  Then we gave him another and he realized that it actually tasted good and he carefully picked it up and tried to lick the frosting off. I think he had a pretty good day. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for throwing him a party.

Then the next week he got to have a whole Birthday Weekend! Grandma and Grandpa Tolman, Christi, Heidi, Kailey, Sydney, and Jared were able to come spend Thursday- Sunday with us. Friday the 10th was his actually Birthday and that night we grilled hamburgers for dinner, opened presents, and had cake.  Grandma Tolman made him the cutest cake. It was the giant cupcake with a duck on top.  It turned out soo fun.

The rest of the weekend we went to the Bruneau Canyon Overlook, Bruneau Sand Dunes, did a little shopping, and mostly hung out at home.

Parker's Driveway Fun!

Last night Jon was out washing the car so Parker and I decided to go sit on the porch and watch. Well Parker decided that was boring and wanted in on the action.

It started off with innocently playing in the bark.

Then he turned around and found all the lovely water just waiting to be played in. Bubbles and everything. 

Doesn't taste too bad either.

Then his Dad decided that he wasn't quite wet enough so he sprayed him with the hose a bit.

Then he spotted the rocks, his favorite thing ever, across the driveway. So he left his snail trail across the driveway and went to play with them.

Then I packed his soggy, wet, little butt in the house and told him he had to have a bath and this is what happened..

Then he had a bath and a bottle and slept for 12 hours straight and we all lived happily ever after!!

Okay. So my plan of blogging alot while Jon was gone obviously didn't work out so well.  He's come home and gone back out on another TDY since the last time I updated.  So this isn't really much of an update either... Just pictures for Jon. It was easier just to put them on the blog than email them all. Maybe some day I'll do an actual update.

Apparently The Only Thing To Talk About: Parker!

Here are new pictures of the Little Man for Jon to see (and all of you I guess)

I feel like we're entering a whole new chapter of parenting, called "The Mobile Child". He's finally got the roll down and scoots all over on his back. Today I got in the shower and I usually just put Parker on the floor in our bedroom so I can peek my head out and still see him. Well I looked out once and saw he had moved a bit, but was still in sight. I peeked out a minute later and I couldn't see him or hear him growling. So I got out to see where he was and all I could see was one little foot sticking out from under the bed. The little stinker had somehow rolled and wiggled himself all the way under the bed. I couldn't believe he could do that. When I pulled him out he just looked at me like "Hey, I worked hard to get under here and I was having fun. Now put me back!!"

And his newest trick from just the last few days is standing up to furniture. He does good, but is still just in the beginning stages.

Here are a few video's. The first one is of him growling. He growls about 80% of the day. Its cute, but man is he loud. Its almost impossible to hear the TV or a movie when he growling.

The next two are of him standing, their really short and he crashes at the end, but you get the idea.

And the last one is the way he chews on his binky. He hardly ever sucks on it like normal. He just chomps away with his 3 new little teeth.
